Waneka Lake Park and Greenlee Wildlife Preserve
The City’s lake park west of Public Road: a loop trail, a boathouse renting paddleboats, kayaks and canoes in summer, nine holes of disc golf, four pickleball courts, stocked trout fishing and the Greenlee Wildlife Preserve on its north shore.
· by the published hours
Waneka Lake Park has two lots, west at 1600 Caria Drive and east at 705 Caria Drive, and is open 6 am to 10 pm, per the City’s disc golf page. The lake is fed from Boulder Creek and South Boulder Creek and used for recreation and park irrigation, not drinking water. The Waneka Lake Boathouse rents two- and four-person paddleboats, stand-up paddleboards, single kayaks and canoes by the half hour each summer, water levels permitting; the 2026 season ended early, on August 11, because of low water. No personal boats, and no swimming or wading. Fishing follows state rules (a license at 16 and over; bass under 15 inches go back), and the lake is stocked with rainbow trout.
The nine-hole disc golf course opened on the east side in July 2014, and pedestrians have the right of way on it. Four pickleball courts are on the west side north of the parking lot, open sunrise to sunset, first come, first served, with non-marking shoes and no pets or food. There are three picnic shelters, two of which rent for $125 from March to October through the recreation center; the blue-roofed one is first come, first served. The Greenlee Wildlife Preserve, at the same address, is where the City’s Open Space program runs its drop-in birding mornings, and The Shack, its interpretive station, opens weekend afternoons.
