Old Town Lafayette is a few blocks of Public Road between Baseline Road and Festival Plaza, with the side streets east of it. This walk goes north to south, about a mile, and takes in the places on this guide whose hours were read from their own pages. Every address is on the listing linked.

1. The Collective, 201 N Public Road

Start at the City’s arts center, in the former church at the north end of the strip, open Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday 10 to 5, Friday 10 to 7, Sunday noon to 5, closed Mondays. The exhibits are free: the Día de los Muertos show runs to November 8, and from November 13 to January 10 it is Gathered, the Open Studios group exhibit. The Collective’s page has the rest.

2. William Oliver’s Publick House, 201 N Public Road, Suite 1C

Next door is William Oliver’s, a Colorado pub whose own site promises more than 400 whiskies, Colorado-brewed beer, a bacon-forward menu with vegan options, no phone calls and no live music. Its hours are not on the site, so look at the door; if it is early, carry on and come back.

3. Harrison Avenue: WOW! and The Read Queen

Turn east on Baseline and south on Harrison. WOW! Children’s Museum is at 110 North Harrison, open Tuesday to Saturday 9 to 5 and Sundays from noon from November 8 ($15 a child, $9 an adult, no adults without a child); across the street at 129 North Harrison, The Read Queen sells new and used books and pours espresso from 7 am on weekdays and 8 on weekends. This is the coffee stop.

4. Lafayette History Museum, 108 E Simpson Street

Two blocks south, at Simpson Street, is the Lewis House, an 1890s coal miner’s cottage moved here from the Gladstone Mine and opened as the Miners Museum in 1976; it is the Lafayette History Museum now, open Wednesday to Friday 10 to 2 and Saturday 8 to noon, with no admission charge listed. The history article tells what is inside.

5. Odd13 Brewing, 301 E Simpson Street

Keep east on Simpson two more blocks to Odd13, the hazy-IPA brewery, open from 2 pm on weekdays and noon at weekends. Its November calendar has a run club, a free ski-waxing night, a cookie pop-up and a can drive; the details are on the listing.

6. Public Road and Festival Plaza: Tangerine and the apothecary

Walk back west to Public Road and south. Little Herbal Apothecary is at 210 South Public, open daily; Tangerine at 300 South Public serves breakfast and lunch until 1:30 on weekdays and 2 at weekends, with a full bar; and across the road is Festival Plaza, 311 South Public, the town square, where the Chamber holds Holiday on the Plaza on December 5 from 2 to 6. South of here Public Road runs on past the City Hall at 1290 to the RTD Park-n-Ride; RTD’s JUMP, 225 and DASH routes all serve Lafayette, and anyone 19 and under rides free.
