· by the published hours
The City’s recreation center is open weekdays 5 am to 8 pm and weekends 8 to 5, with the pool closing half an hour before the building. Daily admission, from the City’s fees page: youth 2 to 17 $4, adults 18 to 54 $5.75, seniors 55 and over $4, and a $15 family rate for two adults and two youth on weekend afternoons from noon. Punch cards are $16 for five youth or senior visits and $23 for five adult visits, 20-visit cards $64 and $92, and a monthly pass $38 for adults and $21 for seniors; Lafayette residents on certain assistance programs get half off youth activity fees and daily admission through the Reduced Rate Program. The building keeps shorter hours on December 9 (to 1 pm), December 24 and December 31 (to 2 pm), and closes on City holidays.
The pool is the Rose Lueras Pool, named by City Council in 2019 for the woman who sued the City in 1934 when its new pool turned away Latino families. Voters approved a bond in November 2025 to renovate and expand the center by about 30 percent, with a new aquatics complex; the City puts the cost at $34 million, design through April 2027 and 18 to 24 months of construction from 2027. Registration for youth sports, swim lessons and School’s Out camps runs through the City’s WebTrac site.
